I have known Justin since I moved to Australia from a lengthy period of time living in Europe and the US in 2019. As a professional lutenist and historical guitarist, the instruments I own and play are at once unique and utterly essential. When I needed an urgent repair to an instrument shortly after arriving in Australia, Justin’s name was suggested, and I’m very glad I followed up on it. Justin has proven to be an invaluable source of instrument repair, advice, and construction, and has expertly, congenially, and often swiftly created everything for me from bridge riders, to an entire new soundboard for one of my theorbos. I’ve also had the great pleasure to spend time playing on some of his historical guitars. Justin’s knowledge and craftsmanship is both excellent and entertaining, and I can only highly recommend him for any luthier needs one might have.

Justin is a talented luthier who makes world class instruments. I have had the good fortune of being introduced to Justin and his instruments a few years ago, and after purchasing my first violin of his, it has been a solid workhorse. Subsequently I purchased another violin of Justins, an Amati Bros model. In short, it is superb, being responsive, warm and resonant across all registers. Not being satisfied with owning two of Justin’s Instruments I recently I added one of his violas to my stable. I can’t thank Justin enough for his dedication to craft, attention to detail, personalised service and fair pricing.
Michael Tabrett, violinist/violist, teacher Epping Boys High
I have been playing on a Justin White violin for the last 15 years and it has served me so well through my Bachelor of Music (Performance) at Sydney Conservatorium of Music and through successful auditions for the Adelaide and Canberra Symphony Orchestras. Everyone has always complemented it’s beautiful tone and it’s ability to project over anything. As it has aged the sound has developed so much more warmth and complexity and it truly is a pleasure to play. I have recently added a Baroque violin to my collection of Justin White instruments and it has received similar feedback from other players. I look forward to playing it more and seeing how it develops in the coming years.
Lucy MacCourt - Violinist, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra
commissioned Justin to make me a Baroque Violin- Stainer modelled- in June 2025. It was finished in September and I couldn’t be happier with the instrument. It has a beautiful warm sound, with great clarity and evenness across all four strings. Justin is also a lovely person to deal with and I would highly recommend his work.
